Kathleen Edwards' first art sales were to sixth grade classmates in late '60's L.A. - drawings of flower wreathed peace signs for ten cents each. Now in the San Francisco bay area, she studied at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn and holds a Master's degree in Interdisciplinary Arts from San Francisco State University.
Her work is in private and corporate collections and has been widely exhibited. Illustration clients include Harper Collins and Chronicle Books. She has been a resident at the Helene Wurlitzer Foundation. Awards include a Marin Arts Council Individual Grant, finalist for Eureka Fellowship, and several Exhibition Best of Shows and Merit Awards. She has taught bookbinding workshops, been an art mentor for youth and serves on her local Arts Commission. Contact the artist for complete CV.
Statement "Choosing the best medium for the message fuels the versatility of my work. From drawing and painting to furniture and lamp making, bookbinding, basketry or installation, the challenge of communication through what I can make with my hands drives the evolution of my work."
